Earth's magnetic fields shift each day from short daytime waves to long night-time waves. Our brains instinctively sense these magnetic shifts and signal our pineal gland to produce melatonin. (Please note: taking melatonin supplements will often work at first, but they will make it even more difficult for your body to produce its own melatonin! Anyone who tells you to take melatonin supplements are also telling you that you need a new health advisor.)

* No one has ever needed stage 4!
